| 6 @ 8:44, one cool down and two more later back from immobilized car. So happy I got in my run before snow started. Too bad I didn't get groceries done also. Slide over a curb and into the bushes on the ice. Would have been safer to shop before the snow and then slide around while running. But true runner that I am I didn't want to risk getting hurt running if was slippery. That might end up being a $25,000 run if they total my minivan and I need a new one. | Add Comment |

| Cold and tight for the entire run. One of my goals this winter is to not skip as many runs because of the weather, but I really am a wimp when the temp drops below 20.

| AM. Tried to get out before the expected morning snow made it impossible. Fell on some snow covered ice that I didn't expect in the middle of the road. Dislocated finger. In ED waiting for repeat X-ray now. Run was feeling pretty good up to that point. Not sure what workouts are going to look like for the next few days. This is the worse winter for snow in over a decade. PM. Not sure I am done feeling sorry for myself yet. Ate donuts and hotdogs today. Gross. See hand surgeon tomorrow. Have fx that may or may not need surgical repair. Then will have a better idea of limitations. I do know that I can't swim until hole that bone went through heals. | Add Comment |

| Still not quite done feeling sorry for myself. Saw ortho doc today. He says no running for two weeks. He is afraid that the finger will swell and that might cause joint scaring. Not buying that logic. Especially when he said biking ok. I will cut back and slow down for a week but I think that is my limit. Biking definetly not ok. I can't hold the handlebars. Swimming not ok until hole that bone came through heals. I think it will be a while before pull through water doesn't hurt. But best news is no surgery needed. | Add Comment |

| 3 miles on flat and not icy treadmill. 8:30 average pace. Weather here is going to be nice for the next few days. Doubt I will stick to my 3 miles every other day rest and heal hand plan. | Still some snow and ice here. Roads and sidewalks also covered with leaves in places. Had to wait until the sun came up to run. Annoying to have to be so careful about slipping. I have fallen 3 times in my life running so on average once every 10 years. Except the trail run I did where I think I fell three times in a 10k. Now I am so paranoid about every foot placement. Run itself wasn't great. I had to work pretty hard to stay on pace. Absolutely no finger swelling after so will go back to regular runs. | Add Comment |

| Slow and painful and 3 miles less than the plan. Hip bothering me. Maybe now that I have taken less Motrin I am noticing it more. Has hurt a little since car accident. It might be because of the hand splint and changing my hand/arm position. It's the tensor fascia lata. 30 years of running never bothered me before. | Left the watch at home. Was hoping if I slowed down hip wouldn't hurt. It did still hurt, but tolerable. I really like running with no watch and just for the pure delight of being able to be out there and moving. Still, running at 10-11 min per mile range is not going to get me to a boston qualifier. That strategy has worked in shorter races but fell apart in a marathon. We'll off the clock now until things stop hurting. | Add Comment |

| About an hour on the trainer. Messing around with new watch. Seeing what different speeds do to heart rate. Never tried a heart rate monitor before. Found 25 episodes of bones on netflix that I haven't seen. That should motivate me to get on the trainer more. | Add Comment |
