AM. Tried to get out before the expected morning snow made it impossible. Fell on some snow covered ice that I didn't expect in the middle of the road. Dislocated finger. In ED waiting for repeat X-ray now. Run was feeling pretty good up to that point. Not sure what workouts are going to look like for the next few days. This is the worse winter for snow in over a decade.

PM. Not sure I am done feeling sorry for myself yet. Ate donuts and hotdogs today. Gross. See hand surgeon tomorrow. Have fx that may or may not need surgical repair. Then will have a better idea of limitations. I do know that I can't swim until hole that bone went through heals.

Still not quite done feeling sorry for myself. Saw ortho doc today. He says no running for two weeks. He is afraid that the finger will swell and that might cause joint scaring. Not buying that logic. Especially when he said biking ok. I will cut back and slow down for a week but I think that is my limit. Biking definetly not ok. I can't hold the handlebars. Swimming not ok until hole that bone came through heals. I think it will be a while before pull through water doesn't hurt. But best news is no surgery needed.

3 miles on flat and not icy treadmill. 8:30 average pace. Weather here is going to be nice for the next few days. Doubt I will stick to my 3 miles every other day rest and heal hand plan. To nice outside. Already planning on running in shorts on Saturday. Hand was fine today running. Did not swell afterwards.

Still some snow and ice here. Roads and sidewalks also covered with leaves in places. Had to wait until the sun came up to run. Annoying to have to be so careful about slipping. I have fallen 3 times in my life running so on average once every 10 years. Except the trail run I did where I think I fell three times in a 10k. Now I am so paranoid about every foot placement.

Run itself wasn't great. I had to work pretty hard to stay on pace. Absolutely no finger swelling after so will go back to regular runs.
